Platelets are a type of blood cells that plays a crucial roll in helping the body stop bleeding as well as repairing damaged blood vessels and cells.
You could think of them as little powerhouses, which release proteins for growth when they come in contact with the body’s tissue especially those that are damaged.
For PRP, a needle is used to draw blood from the client’s arm. The blood is then spun in a machine, to isolate the platelets which are then extracted and combined with hyaluronic solutions are then injected into the client’s facial tissues.
Benefits of the PRP facial
- Improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars and stretch marks
- Rejuvenate the under-eye area
- Tighten stubborn open pores
- Plump and volumizes any area (e.g. cheeks) where someone might otherwise get filler
Before any needles are injected, a local anesthetic cream is applied to the face. Which should make the treatment relatively painless, although clients should expect any injections made directly into the lip border to hurt a bit.
Side-effects may include:
- Puffy looking skin
- Mild itchiness for a day or two
- Occasional bruising
Vampire facials are the most expensive of facial treatments. The cost can exceed $1000 and people don’t typically see results for three to four weeks.
Those over the age of 40 are encouraged to schedule three treatments four to six weeks apart to achieve maximum results.
Younger clients may only need this treatment once, repeated periodically for best long-term results.
